In a music saturated culture with a new “flavor” every 10 seconds, seldom does something or someone breakthrough the muddled mess of pop icon wanabees and self seeking one hit wonders, to really make a difference in our world. This is what sets Jerimae Yoder apart from the crowd. “Music and art are not an end in themselves, they are only the means to reach the heart of people with a message. Sometimes the message is spoken by lyrics, sometimes spoken after the music is played or performed and sometimes the message is found within the art itself,” says Jerimae. What sets Jerimae Yoder apart from the rest of the music scene is that he cares about the message. He cares about people. He cares about God. He cares about how people respond to God.

In rousing concerts around the country where he tweaks and loops every sound that could possibly emanate from an acoustic guitar, he relays his biblical message of hope for the future and contentment for today. Jerimae is truly creating a new sound and a buzz in the Indie music community with his charismatic personality and innovative live performance.

Jerimae grew up in a Mennonite household in rural Northern Indiana. There seemed to be a lot of religion in Jerimae’s life being the son of a mother who grew up Amish and a Mennonite Father. He will be the first one to say that he never tried too hard to know God. So when he left College to look for that elusive relationship with “god,” he did not expect to end up reading the bible voraciously or experience the one, true God change his life dramatically before him.

Jerimae Yoder’s personal revolution began in 1995. A “radical self- turning” is how Jerimae describes the transformation that began on a summer evening on a park bench in Northern Michigan. Nothing would be the same from that point on. As he packed up his red VW bus bound for California from his home in Goshen IN., God began to work in all his situations. A two weeks stop in Indianapolis turned into 10 years, 1 wife and 3 kids.

His self described style of music is “Modern Acoustic” melding together acoustic guitar with electronic elements that he gleans from influences like Beck, Wilco, Derek Webb, David Gray, the Flaming Lips, MuteMath, Phil Keaggy, Jars of Clay, and Damien Rice.
